During her halftime performance at the SuperBowl in February of this year, Beyonce made a big announcement that she would be going on tour this summer! After much anticipation, the “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour” arrived this past Saturday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Music City, Nashville, Tennessee.
At about 9:40 p.m., the wait was over, “The Queen B” herself had landed. Beyonce took the stage with an electrifying performance of “Run The World (Girls).” Throughout the show, Queen Elizabeth and Marie Antoinette were present through Beyonce with her, by doing a recurring theme of Louis XIV. Beyonce performed some of her biggest hits over her 4 solo albums, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” “Party,” “Irreplaceable,” and “Freakum Dress” were just a few singles. And of course the crowd went wild in full participation all night!
Mrs. Carter began her career as the lead singer of one of the greatest female groups of all-time, Destiny’s Child. She even brought fans back to the Destiny’s Child era by performing hit singles, “Independent Woman” and “Survivor”.
Right before her performance, an important verdict was issued in African American and American history. Trayon Martin, the 17-year-old African-American male was killed last year by George Zimmerman. The case has been highly publicized in the media over the past year. Early Saturday evening, George Zimmerman was found not guilty on all murder charges. Beyonce acknowledged the verdict by paying tribute to the late Martin with her rendition of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” Beyonce said, “I’d like to have a moment of silence for Trayvon.” It was a very touching and memorable moment in the show.
With close to 20 years in the music industry, 17 Grammy awards, and over 75 million records sold worldwide, Beyonce still puts every part of her heart and soul into her shows. Beyonce performed in front of a sold-out crowd, for two hours. She incorporated great singing, great dancing, crowd participation; a well thought of theme, her creativity, her innovation and most importantly the execution of it all is what makes Beyonce the “QUEEN B.” Mrs. Carter is a must-see performer and this is a must-attend concert. Make sure to catch it when it comes to your city!
