The Matron’s Circle of First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill will host their Annual Christmas Gala on December 1, 2013 at 3:30 p.m., at Swett’s Restaurant, 2725 Clifton Ave. The Theme for this year is “Room For Jesus.”
Reverend Olivia M. Cloud will be honored for her accomplishments and her life-long achievements. This woman of God has a passion for helping women help themselves and the greater community, as evidenced in her service as president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Nashville Alumnae Chapter.
During her tenure as president, Rev. Cloud has been actively involved in issues affecting the community, including: voter registration and voting rights; Metro Nashville Public School proposals and plans affecting our community; American Cancer Society Fight Against Cancer; Race for the Cure; W.O.M.E.N. (Women on Maintaining Education and Nutrition) for women living with HIV/AIDS and their families; and a new initiative with the Dirty Dozen, men advocating and counseling adolescent boys and girls so that they can grow and thrive despite adverse conditions they may face.
We are proud to claim Rev. Cloud as member of the Berean Church Family, and we are pleased that another respected congregation in our community has seen fit to recognize her service and accomplishments. Much gratitude to Mrs. Mai Olive Shumake Lusk for coordinating this blessed event to usher us into the season of giving and sharing.
