Pastor Alvin Miller and the St. John Congregation honoring the ‘Meharry Medical College Students for Africa’ with over $1,200 donation during the St. John Church’s Annual Black History Month Concert and Drama Celebration on Saturday, February 1, 2014 @ 3:00 p.m. The Annual Black History Concert/Drama was directed by Rev. Liz Mentor of St. John Church.
The Congregation of St. John Church in Clarksville, TN was encouraged by Pastor Alvin Miller to step in and help the Medical Students at Meharry Medical College in their quest to raise the needed funds in order to assist them with their travel to Accra, Ghana. The Meharry Medical Students will provide medical care/treatment to the children and citizen of Ghana, Africa.
Bishop Miller learned of the students’ financial need during the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Holiday Festivities this past January on the King’s National Holiday Celebration, and began planning the event to help the Meharry Medical Students by purchasing radio air time to advertise the event in order to assist the medical student with their venture to raise the needed funds for travel to Ghana, Africa.
The nine Meharry Medical Students also presented Bishop Alvin Miller with a token of appreciation for the compassionate support the St. John Church has demonstrated to them in their fundraising efforts.
