NASHVILLE, TN — (TSU News Service) – The works of two artists from Tennessee State University will be on display at the library at the Avon Williams through the end of the month, and include works made from everything from nature-inspired materials to nontraditional recycled items.

Mitchell Chamberlain, a circulation loan librarian for more than 15 years at the University, is exhibiting his works that use recycled materials to create art he says is an integral part of the modern and contemporary art world. He credits this to the environmentally artistic response a throw-away society many find themselves living in.

Although Chamberlain paints mostly with acrylic, this exhibit demonstrates 3-dimensional painting on wood while using nontraditional materials usually destined for the trash.

A native of Paducah, Ky., Chamberlain is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he majored in history and minored in art. He has displayed his works at exhibits throughout middle Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Alabama.

Also taking place at the library is an exhibit by Eleonora Troyanovskaya, an art student at TSU. Hailing from Minsk, Russia, her artwork is inspired by the nature. Her prints on display fuse nature and art down to the paper that she sometimes makes for her printmaking.

Both exhibits are on display until the end of the month and are free and open to the public. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday noon until 8:30 p.m.
