WASHINGTON, DC — This week, President Rosier of the National Bar Association attended a White House meeting with President Obama and other leaders of National African-American civil rights groups to discuss how the Administration can continue to partner with them on major issues that included: criminal justice reform, the economy, income inequality and the Affordable Care Act.

“Our major concerns focused on the Voting Rights Act, criminal justice reform and judicial nominations,” stated Patricia Rosier, President of the National Bar Association. “This was a productive and candid meeting with the President and other key officials to discuss critical issues affecting our community at large,” stated Rosier.

The meeting was chaired by Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett and included the Honorable Attorney General, Eric Holder; Cecilia Munoz, Domestic Policy Director; Phil Schiliro, Advisor on Health Policy and Implementation, and Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson. Administration officials gave policy updates and solicited feedback from the National Bar and the other organizations on next steps to advance these and other issues in 2014.

“We are happy to have spoken with the President and look forward to continuing conversations like these with policy-makers during our Legislative Day on the Hill on March 26th,” said Rosier.
