Fisk Duo Honored By Nashville Civitian Club
The Nashville Civitian Club Honored local High School and College basketball players at their luncheon today at Swett’s Restaurant in North Nashville. Fisk’s Janine Davis and Cameron Lewis were among the honorees for the A.D. Hancock/Walter Nipper Sportsmanship Award. The Bulldog duo was named with; Molly Ernst and Reece Chamberlain from Belmont University, Jess Reece and Khion Sankey from Lipscomb University, Jay Harris and Alana Morris from TSU, Anna Mitchell from Trevecca University, and Jasmine Lister and Shelby Moats from Vanderbilt University.
“What a way to finish off my career as a student-athlete,” said Davis. “The icing on the cake was that Cam was honored too. The season was tough but rewarding. I had knee surgery a week ago and had time to reflect. I learned a lot this season, but what I learned the most was in order to get the best, you have to sometimes go through the worse. I want to thank everyone at Fisk that has been behind me. I had two goals when I came to Fisk. One is to graduate and I am doing that next month. The other is to play professionally overseas and I will be in two camps right after graduation. I am a living witness that all things are possible when you put God first.”

Davis’ athletic accolades include her leading the country in assists to turnover ratio and she was second in assists per game. Lewis, a junior from Overton High School in Nashville, was recently named an NAIA All-American. He was chosen as the gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He like Davis appreciates the downs as well as the ups.
“We had a tough year on and off the court but we played with the hand that was dealt to us. Every award I received this year was a surprise to be honest. It was good to see a lot of people from my high school and from around town that knows me. They all have read the stories about me and said they followed my career. It is humbling to hear that. I didn’t realize so many people care. This award goes beyond what I did on the court; it lets me know that hard work is rewarded. Getting this with Janine was special. Heck, she is on crutches because she played through injuries all year. This was a great honor.”
Venom Now Featured On Bench Press
The newest professional franchise in Nashville the Professional Indoor Football League’s Nashville Venom will have a 30 minute segment as part of WTNTribune Radio’s signature sports talk show Bench starting this Monday and every Monday throughout the season. Venom defensive back coach Cromwell Stewart has been on the show the past two weeks. This week former Maplewood High School star Ernest “Pistol” Ramsey was an in-studio guest. Ramsey is a defensive back for the Venom.
“This is a great opportunity for us to get our voices heard,” said Stewart. The guys have fun in the studio so my personality has fit right in. I appreciate WTNTribune for giving us a platform to tell our story. This is exciting.”

Stewart’s brother Corry Stewart called into the show on Monday. Corry had a stellar game in the home opener this past Saturday. His three interceptions and five pass break-ups were key in the Venom’s 39-31 victory over the Harrisburg (PA) Stampede. Ramsey pointed out some interesting things about Corry’s game and the importance of the collaboration between WTNTribune Radio and the Venom.
“He played lights out against them. It was weird because before the game we noticed that the Stampede’s fans were seated behind our bench. They were heckling us the whole time. Corry loves to dance to get him hyped up. One fan said ‘we see #20 can dance, but can he play’? Well, after that game it was no doubt. I love the fact that we have a show now. What’s even better is this is my family. I played at Maplewood with Jason (Sales). Mac (McKinley Young) and I have been on teams going back to Pee Wee football and Mr. Scott (Wallace) has been in my corner for a while. I love it.”
You can catch the show every Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central Standard Time live on WTST The Blaze. WTNTribune Radio will run the show on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time and throughout the week. You can get both stations by downloading the TuneIn application and searching for the stations.
