NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mayor Karl Dean today visited local volunteers at an event hosted by the Tennessee Respite Coalition as part of the second annual Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service. Volunteers on hand included those participating in the Senior Companion Program, who provide respite care to families in need, and foster grandparents, who serve as role models, mentors and friends to children with exceptional needs.
In addition, Mayor Dean recognized other AmeriCorps and Senior Corps volunteers by sending them a personal letter thanking them for their service to Nashville and the nation.
“Today we are highlighting the great work being done across our city by volunteers who give their time, passion and skills to help our community,” Mayor Dean said. “They make a difference in the lives of our citizens and the vitality of our community.”
