The flagship model in the Ford lineup is at once exhilarating and arguably, a new standard in American luxury. I found the Taurus SHO excels in both technology and performance. The SHO looks like, feels like, and drives like the best Taurus out there. The SHO acronym might as well mean “everything,” because that is what this roomy and wide speedster brings as standard.
In the cabin of the SHO I found many unique touches in performance, interior luxury and tech sophistication. The car’s features and options were both impressive with pleasurable. From multi-contour seats with active motion to a heated steering wheel, there are comfort features that were functional and gratifying.
The technology list includes automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, a rear-view camera system, and even Ford’s Park Assist feature.
As for performance, without effort my SHO exploded from the stoplight with the full force of its twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine.
I was also impressed by the Taurus SHO’s lane-keeping alerts which make driving the sedan and effortless exercise.
The styling turned heads everywhere I went. The squinting SHO lights are tasteful, and the new grille is intriguing. My SHO model shipped with the Performance Pack, which included among other features a wheel upgrade.
Inside the cabin the SHO is without a doubt, one of the nicest Fords available. The suede seating option in my vehicle was luxurious. The tech inside includes “MyFord Touch” by Sony. The hardware is functional and the soft-ware quicker. The back seat is roomy enough for a family of five, with a really tall roof that is a curious feature. The seats back there are also much higher off the floor which dramatically increases comfort.
Last on the list of SHO qualities is its huge 20 cubic feet of trunk space, which is massive and seems like more footage than some college dorm rooms.
The SHO’s exact EcoBoost engine is responsive and smooth. Sixty mph is just a floored gas pedal away. The SHO is powered by the largest EcoBoost engine, a 365-hp, 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine. The SHO isn’t a sports car, but I found it capable in corners while maintaining a calm and quiet cabin even when pushed hard.
The SHO price begins at around $40,000.
