What: Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) Director Dr. Jesse Register, and Connected Tennessee will host the Metro Nashville Anytime Access for All Leadership Summit

When: Wednesday, May 21, 2014 – 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. CDT

Where: Music City Center, Downtown Nashville – 201 5th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203)

Why: The goal of this summit is to begin a community conversation on how to bridge the digital divide that currently exists for Nashville’s students. It is estimated that approximately 44% of students and their families do not have access to the Internet from home. With the increase in technology in classrooms, in the workforce, and in daily life for basic communication and access to information, this opportunity gap has an impact on not only the students and families, but on our city’s future.

The Anytime Access for All initiative has 3 objectives: all students benefit from off-campus connectivity to broadband for educational purposes during non-school hours; all students have access to or ownership of a personal technology device; and all students have access to quality digital content that supports and enhances learning.
