NASHVILLE, Tenn. – ChristianUniversitiesOnline.org has named Belmont University as among the 50 Most Beautiful Christian Colleges in the World. The ranking features schools in the United States, Japan, Uganda, Canada and the Philippines considered broadly evangelical in their theological outlook and chosen by the website’s editors.
Belmont made the list at No. 48.”Beyond both academic and religious teaching, certain Christian universities and colleges around the world stand out for the special beauty of their campuses,” said lead editor J. Shane in a press release. “We created this list to shine a spotlight on those schools for people who see entering higher education as a chance to nurture their knowledge and spirituality but perhaps didn’t realize they could do so with such stunning surroundings.”The article mentions the University’s Belmont Mansion, a museum on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as the 160-year-old Bell Tower and its carillon and describes the 75-acre campus as “host to various grand, elegant and strikingly beautiful buildings.”
Ranked No. 7 in the Regional Universities South category and named for the sixth consecutive year as one of the top “Up-and-Comer” universities by U.S. News & World Report, Belmont University consists of approximately 6,900 students who come from every state and more than 25 countries. Committed to being a leader among teaching universities, Belmont brings together the best of liberal arts and professional education in a Christian community of learning and service.
The University’s purpose is to help students explore their passions and develop their talents to meet the world’s needs, a fact made evident in the University’s hometown, Nashville, where students, faculty and staff served more than 243,000 hours of community service (valued at more than $5 million) during 2012. Belmont is also home to the World Cup champion Enactus team, a group of 42 student leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world. With more than 80 areas of undergraduate study, 22 master’s programs and five doctoral degrees, there is no limit to the ways Belmont University can expand an individual’s horizon.
