If you are following me on social media you might have noticed how geeked I was about attending my first mixology class. For those newbies Mixology is another term for mixing drinks and a Mixologist is another term for a bartender. I have to admit I have become somewhat of a bar snob since being introduced to the world of mixology. To me it is an art to making a damn good drink.
With summer on our heels this is the perfect excuse for having folks over for cocktails and conversation. Just remember folks this isn’t your everyday Long Island Ice Tea or Rum & Coke spot. Do expect to drink well and pay well.
Here are my 5 favorite local spots to go and chat it up.
Patterson House- this is by far one of my favorite places in Nashville. There is no outdoor signage, no standing over anyone’s back to order a drink. This is a true speakeasy. The menu is ever changing and I never order the same drink twice. Be adventurous and allow the Mixologist surprise you with a drink made perfectly for you.
My favorite- Romeo and Juliet
Husk- not much of a meat eater but this downstairs bar is a hidden gem and does not disappoint. Think of your favorite old school drink and put a twist on it. Still reminiscing and thinking about how much fun I had the last time there. Who wants to meet up for happy hour?
My favorite- Miracle on Ice
Holland House- in the heart of east Nashville I love this eclectic restaurant. It’s a place where everyone there knows your name. A great neighborhood bar where you can walk next door and add your name to the waiting list for the Pharmacy; and grab a drink while waiting.
My favorite- Rose Marie
Masons- located in the Vanderbilt Loews this hip looking bar is a nice addition to the hotel. If you are looking for a low key spot to watch the game or bring a new date I definitely recommend this restaurant.
My favorite- Suga Garden
Grays on Main – located in downtown Franklin I really love the feel of this bar. It’s a southern gentleman’s or woman’s bar with most of the drinks centered around brandy.
My favorite- Brandy Crusta
