NASHVILLE, TN — Last week about 4,000 aspiring singers turned out at the Municipal Auditorium for the first round of auditions for the 14th season of Fox’s American Idol mega-talent TV show.
Music City’s best/worst and ‘interesting’ singing talent, performed for the show’s superstar judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., who arrived in town last Sunday.
Will Nashville give the world the next American Idol champion? Maybe.
The judges admitted they weren’t exactly too thrilled with the majority of the talent they saw here last Sunday but did seem optimistic about only a handful of hopefuls, thus far.
On Monday, J-Lo, Connick and Urban held a rather private impromptu press conference at the new Music City Center for a few select media. Anxious fans were of course in awe of the dynamic threesome, especially Ms. J-Lo, as they made their way thru the convention center to meet with the local press. The iconic trio offered the usual advice to future singers: Be yourself, don’t be nervous, and relax type of tips. But the search rolls on.
