To celebrate 112 years in business, EJ Sain Jewelers held a liquidation sale on April 17 where customers could buy jewelry for as much as 60 percent off the retail price. EJ Sain Jewelers is an fourth-generation independent jewelry store in Nashville.
“We’re trying to cut our inventory in half. We got overstocked and we’re offering it to the public for a good discount so everyone can enjoy the benefit of the sale,” said Gennette Sain Norman, president of EJ Sain Jewelers and granddaughter of the founder, EJ Sain. “After 112 years in business, we have accumulated a huge excess inventory. Recent purchases at market have compounded the problem. The sale will help to alleviate our overstock problem and help to strengthen our financial position as we enter our second century.”
The liquidation sale consisted of fine diamonds and diamond jewelry, colored gemstone jewelry, watches and 18k gold and platinum designer gems. “We’ve had the pleasure of helping four generations of families in Nashville to commemorate their most special occasions with beautiful gifts,” said Norman. “We’re looking forward to serving them for four more generations. This sale provides a unique opportunity for our clients to select exceptional gifts for themselves or their significant others at prices not otherwise possible.”
According to Norman, her grandfather was inspired to begin the store by watching his father, who used to make watches. “In those days, pocket watches, rings and silverware was engraved. My grandfather learned that craft from his father.” When Sain died during the 1960s, his business was taken over by his son, Norman’s father. When Norman’s father passed away during the 1980s, she took over.
Other generations have also grown through the years with EJ Sain Jewelers. “We’ve been around a long time, so we have old customers who come back to us. Their children come back to us. We’re a traditional store.”
Norman says that the quality of their products keep customers coming back. “We carry more expensive jewelry than some stores. We cater to people that want something different or unusual. Our jewelry is well-made and lasting. That’s how we’ve lasted so long; by selling quality jewelry.” The company specializes in watch repair, on-site jewelry and custom design. They also perform restoration services and appraisals.
EJ Sain Jewelers, which is the oldest jewelry store in the city, sells world-renowned designers such as Patek Philippe, Frederick Sage, K. Goldschmidt, Mason Kay, Mastoloni Pearls, Masriera, Sal Prashnik, Susan Sadler, the EJ Sain Estate Jewelry Collection, Hamilton Watches, Raymond Weil.
